Welcome to www.medicines.org.uk, the medicines information web site provided by Datapharm Communications Ltd.

Our aim is to improve public health and safety by giving information on medicines that is up-to-date, accurate and comprehensive. We work closely with the NHS, the pharmaceutical industry, patients and healthcare professionals to create simple and accessible medicines information services.

Datapharm currently provides four key medicines information resources:

electronic Medicines Compendium (eMC)
Medicines Compendium Updated daily, the eMC provides Summaries of Product Characteristics (SPCs) and Patient Information Leaflets (PILs) for UK medicines. All information on the web site is provided by pharmaceutical companies and approved by the regulatory authorities. The annual Medicines Compendium book is also produced from the eMC. RECENTLY LAUNCHED X-PIL service
xpil_logo The X-PIL service makes the patient information leaflets supplied with UK medicines accessible to everyone, including those with sight problems. Leaflet formats include large font, audio and Braille, and the web site is designed to work with screen readers. Read more about X-PIL

Dictionary of Medicines and Devices (dm+d) Browser
dmd logo The dm+d is a dictionary containing unique identifiers and textual descriptions for medicines prescribed in the UK. The browser provides easy access to the dm+d data, which is supplied by the NHS Business Services Authority, Prescription Pricing Division, and updated weekly. Through the 'In-Demand' system, pharmaceutical companies can directly update their product information on the dm+d. Read more about dm+d
